Step back in time and make unforgettable holiday memories with the whole family at the Toledo, Lake Erie & Western Railway and Museum!
During the most wonderful time of the year, our historic railway invites children and train enthusiasts alike to experience a unique holiday tradition: Santa in the Caboose. Ditch the traditional, sterile mall setup and bring your little ones to meet Jolly Old Saint Nick right inside an authentic, historic railroad caboose decorated for the season.

What to Expect
- A Cozy Historic Setting: Step inside a vintage caboose transformed into Santa’s temporary winter study.
- Meet & Greet with Santa: Children will have the chance to share their Christmas wishes directly with Santa Claus, hand him their letters, and soak in the festive atmosphere.
- Capture the Moment: Bring your own cameras and smartphones! Families are encouraged to take as many personal photos and videos as they like to capture the magic of the day.
- Support Local Railway History: Events like Santa in the Caboose serve an important mission. Donations and proceeds collected during the event directly support the ongoing preservation, restoration, and seasonal heating/upkeep of our historical museum grounds and equipment.

- Dates & Times: November 21 – 22 during the Grand Rapids (Ohio) Christmas Open House.
