Step Back in Time: Join Us for the Annual “Santa in the Caboose”!

Skip the crowded mall lines and trade the ordinary for an unforgettable holiday tradition at the Toledo, Lake Erie & Western Railway and Museum! We are thrilled to announce our Annual Santa in the Caboose event, happening on November 21–22 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM during the Grand Rapids Christmas Open House.

Bring the whole family to experience the magic as children share their Christmas wishes and snap photos with Jolly Old Saint Nick right inside our authentic Chessie System caboose C-3161, built in 1968 and beautifully decorated for the season. To make your visit even cozier, guests will comfortably wait for their turn to see Santa inside our historic Pullman heavyweight passenger coach number 403, built in 1932 for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (ex-B&O 3508) and filled with vintage holiday charm. Please note that due to the historic nature of our vintage equipment, this event is not ADA accessible.

Be sure to bring your cameras and smartphones to capture the magic! Operating on a donation basis, this special event directly supports the ongoing preservation, restoration, and heating of our museum grounds and equipment, helping keep local railroad history alive for future generations. Come join our crew, support a great cause, and kick off your holiday season on a high note!
