We’re thrilled to announce that the Toledo, Lake Erie & Western Railway and Museum is now accepting credit cards for our popular Grand Rapids Motorcar Rides! This is a major milestone for us and a first in our history. Our on-site credit card terminal makes it easier than ever for visitors to enjoy this unique rail experience. While online ticket purchases are not yet available, we’re exploring options for the future.

Our motorcar rides operate on the historic Clover Leaf Route (Toledo, St. Louis & Western Railroad), a line with deep roots in Northwest Ohio’s transportation story. You’ll travel across our iconic 901-foot through-truss bridge over the Maumee River — the longest railroad bridge operated by any tourist railroad east of the Mississippi. This bridge, rebuilt in 1916 after the Great Flood, offers a stunning layered view of American transportation history: the old Miami and Erie Canal below, the highway running underneath, and the preserved rail line above. On the return trip from Grand Rapids Road, our operator will stop in the middle of the bridge so you can admire the views and take photos.
Rides run Saturdays and Sundays from May through October, weather permitting (Noon–5 PM, often later). Adult tickets are $6.25 with card or $6.00 cash; children (3–12) are $4.25 with card or $4.00 cash. Please note: We will not be accepting credit cards during the Grand Rapids Applebutter Fest in October due to heavy cell tower congestion from the large crowds. Cash will be the only payment option during that busy event.
