The timetable

The motorcar runs on a schedule, not as a walk-up ride. Each trip is about 45 minutes. Cars leave on the hour from noon through 6 p.m. and are back in the yard by 7.

Please reserve a time. Each run holds 16 people. Once a hour is full, that departure is closed.

Fare and dates

$10 a person. Saturday, October 24. Sunday, October 25. Saturday, October 31.

Registration opens Sunday, October 11. That is also Applebutter Fest. The Fest shuttle and this ride are two different things.

What the ride includes

Pumpkin patch pictures

There is time for pictures at the pumpkin patch. Each child may take one pumpkin.

No mid-bridge photo stop

The regular weekend ride stops in the middle of the bridge for a picture. This one does not. The timetable and the rest of the program do not leave room for that stop.

Come in costume

Children should come dressed as a favorite character. Keep it family friendly, and keep capes and loose pieces clear of the car. The motorcar is open to the weather.

Reserve a seat

Registration opens October 11. The reservation link will be posted on this page that day. Until then, call the museum at (419) 878-2177 with questions.

Weather permitting. Bring a jacket in case the afternoon turns. If a date has to be called for weather, we will say so here and on the phone line.

Who built this

This program was developed by our experimental Youth Maintenance of Way crew. The public ride is separate from that learning program. You do not need a membership to reserve a seat.

The regular Grand Rapids motorcar ride, walk-up and on its own fare, continues on other weekends through October 31. Details stay on the motorcar rides page.
